The President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych introduced the Acting Chairman to the executive personnel of the SSU. Under the Presidential Decree the SSU First Deputy Chairman, the Head of Chief Department for Fight against Corruption and Organized Crime, Volodymyr Rokytskyi took the office.

Due to stay of Y.V.Tymoshenko in Kachanivska penal colony №54 of Kharkiv region, criminal case on her charges of the organization of concealment of currency proceeds, organization of repeated tax evasion in the total amount of over UAH 16 million, embezzlement and attempted embezzlement of budgetary funds by illegal reimbursement of over UAH 25 million of VAT, forgery in office and attempted embezzlement of somebody else's property - funds of the state budget in the amount of USD 405,5 million, was forwarded under investigative jurisdiction to the Investigative Division of the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Kharkiv region.

The Security Service of Ukraine exposed and documented a corrupt scheme of extortion and bribe-taking by the State Employment Center (SEC) officials. In the framework of the National Program "Creation of New Workplaces for Unemployed People from Coal-Mining Regions" 365 million UAH were allocated from the Ukrainian budget to the SEC.

On 25-26 October, 2011 Kyiv hosted International Conference on "Bringing Terrorists to Justice: European Standards Promotion and Sharing of Best Practices", organized by the Council of Europe Committee of Experts on Terrorism in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine.

On October 11-13, 2011 Yalta hosted the NATO-Ukraine International Staff Talks on Cyber Defense. The event was attended by NATO and the Security Service of Ukraine experts, representatives of NATO member-states embassies in Ukraine, the National Security and Defense Council Office, law enforcement and information networks protection agencies, the Ministry of Defense, chiefs of leading private IT-companies in Ukraine.

In the framework of NATO-Ukraine Staff Talks on Intelligence Sector Reform in Ukraine a workshop on "Medical Support of the Employees of Special Services and Insurance Medicine Model in Allied Nations" was held at the Security Service of Ukraine on 28 September, 2011.

In the course of the meeting, the SSU Antiterrorist Center Staff representatives and foreign expert discussed the issue of preliminary assessment of terrorist threats during EURO-2012.

The Security Service of Ukraine in cooperation with the European partner special services carried out unprecedented operation on elimination of international organized criminal group that set up transnational "shady" commodities and currency values circulation on the territories of Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Czech Republic and Germany.

A long-term special operation conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine in close cooperation with the US law-enforcement bodies resulted in disruption of the activity of the organized criminal hacker group involved in unauthorized interference with automated control systems of national and foreign credit-financing institutions and infliction of serious financial losses on them.

The Security Service of Ukraine, in coordination with the law enforcement agencies of United States, Great Britain, Netherlands, France, Germany, Latvia, Cyprus and other countries (10 in total), defeated illegal activity of the international criminal group of hackers, organized and coordinated from Ukraine.

The 30th session of CIS member-states Heads of Security and Special Agencies Council (SORB) was held on May 23-25, 2011 in Dnipropetrovsk. This coordinating body established on 28 March, 1997 ensures the effective mechanism of cooperation among national special services within the Commonwealth joining partners' efforts at settling common issues on countering transnational crime.

On 19 April, 2011 Kharkiv hosted the Fourth International Conference "Promotion of Democratic Values and Compliance with Human Rights in the Activity of the Special Services", which was conducted under the aegis of the President of Ukraine and organized by the Security Service of Ukraine, National Yaroslav Mudryi Law Academy of Ukraine, National Institute for Strategic Studies, NATO Liaison Office in Ukraine, Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces and Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. The conference is held annually starting from 2008. Since then experts have discussed a lot of issues, concerning civil control over the special services' activity, compliance with human rights in the course of special services' archives opening, international terrorism counteraction, etc.

On 21 April, 2011 the SSU First Deputy Chairman Volodymyr Khimey met with the Deputy Head of the European Union Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM) Slavomir Pichor.

Festivities on the occasion of the Security Service of Ukraine 19-th anniversary took place in Kiev. Greetings on behalf of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovich were read by the head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Sergiy Lyovochkin: "The Security Service of Ukraine is almost an age-mate of our state, which will celebrate its 20-th anniversary this year. All this time the security bodies' officers were a strong shield of national interests. Your high professionalism and dedication to work gained a deserved authority and social respect."

On February 23, 2010 in Odesa Valeriy Khoroshkovskyi, the Chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine, took part in the 4th tri-lateral meeting between the senior management of the EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM) and the security services of the two nations. The parties noted a considerable progress in the most important fields of cooperation, especially in the information exchange, joint intelligence-led investigations, and also joint operations on border security.
